The 25.3 percent of Ecuadorians has used the Internet

The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC) reported on Thursday that only 25.3 percent of Ecuadorians has ever used the Internet in their lives, while 41 percent say computers have handled.

In a statement, the INEC reported that 25.3 percent of Ecuadoreans who has accessed the network, the 38.9 percent it has in public access centers and Internet cafes, "while 21.6 percent had made at home and 14.4 percent at work.

Most Internet consultations are related to education and learning activities (45.5 percent) while 7.3 percent do so for work reasons.
In addition, 40.1 percent use the Internet at least once a week and 37.3 percent do it once a day.

From 41 percent of Ecuadorians who has ever used a computer in their lives, 51 percent belong to an urban area and 20.9 percent for rural addition, 22.8 percent of households have a computer, of which only seven percent have Internet access.

On how to access the network, 43.4 percent of households have it via modem or phone, 52.3 percent or broadband cable and 3.4 percent have wireless Internet.
Finally, 93 percent of Ecuadorian households have color television and 50 percent telephone line.

The data correspond to the latest survey on Information Technologies and Communications conducted by INEC in a total of 20,220 households, of which 11,328 are urban households and 8892 are rural.
