Apple announces improvements to iTunes and iPods price cuts

With the presence of convalescent Steve Jobs, Apple held a conference Wednesday in San Francisco, USA, where he announced updates to its iTunes software and iPod music player.

Among the new features of iPod players highlighted the new generation model "Nano"-with the addition of a video camera, and a reduction in prices of various models.

The price of the iPod Touch 32 Gigabytes dropped from 399 to 279 dollars at the shop on the Internet Apple Store, while the 16 GB model was reduced by $ 50 to $ 249.

The Nano will be available starting this Wednesday with a video camera built in, with a color screen and a little larger than their predecessors, and includes radio and a digital pedometer.

The camera, however, did not arrive by the time the other iPod models, although there are improvements in the small Shuffle, now from $ 59 and with a greater range of colors in the iPod classic, which will accommodate up to 40,000 songs with 160 GB of memory.

8GB iPod Touch now costs $ 189, $ 40 less than the previous price, while the 16 GB iPod Nano dropped from 199 to $ 149.

Apple emphasized the versatility of the iPod Touch, "a large handheld computer with the best mobile Internet browser and great to play," said vice president of marketing, Philip Schiller.

The company intends to convert to iPhone, iPod Touch market leaders in the mobile games industry.
