China adds 384 million Internet users, 29% more than in 2008

China has 384 million Internet users after in 2009 another 86 million people were connected to the network, representing an increase of 28.9 percent, according to Tuesday's official newspaper China Daily.

The Information Center of the Internet in China released the official data of the balance of the year in which they emphasize the increase in internet connection through mobile phones.

Thus, about 233 million people already connecting to the network through their mobile terminals due to business expansion of mobile telephony of third generation (3G).

The figure nearly doubled compared to 2008 when there were only 120 million people who used the phone to access the network.

The Chinese agency also wanted to emphasize the internet penetration in rural areas of the country, from which in 2009 logged more than 106 million people, 26 percent more than in the previous year.

China is the country with the largest number of netizens in the world and further expands the gap with the United States, second placed with 227 million users.

However, Internet penetration is low in China, only 30 percent of the total population, which lies above 1,300 million.

The increase of Internet users around the country also had a significant impact on Internet commerce in the Asian giant, whose revenue reached 250,000 million yuan (36,600 million, 25,500 million).
