The creator of a website accused of being one of the world's largest sources of illegal downloading was acquitted by a British court on Friday.
Oink Alan Ellis created a site that is reserved for its members to exchange music files.
The site had about 200,000 members when police raided the house of Ellis in Middlesbrough, northern England, in October 2007. Authorities said they had closed a major source of illegal downloading.
Ellis, a computer engineer for 26 years, said he created the site to improve their cyber skills, without any intention of defrauding the copyright holders. The site did not include music, but indexes files that other users wanted to share.
The jury at Teesside court acquitted him of conspiracy to commit fraud.
