Nintendo Wii causes injuries

Sprains and strains in different parts of the body are some of the effects are interactive electronic games like Nintendo Wii according to a study presented in San Francisco, USA.
Researchers warned that players can be injured in body areas such as feet, shoulders and ankles.
A company spokesman said Nintendo players to be careful with movements that are not engaged in this activity too often.
The phenomenon of injuries caused by games consoles is not new, but traditionally had focused on problems identified in the hands and fingers due to excessive use of games that require pressing buttons during marathon sessions that often.
However, the appearance on the Nintendo Wii market in 2006, broke new ground for games that mimic the movements in various sports in front of a screen that simulates the training camp.

Extreme cases in Nintendo Wii


Researchers at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia analyzed data from the "System Electronic Injury Surveillance" which records information from the emergency rooms of American hospitals.
In a five-year period were recorded 696 injuries related to electronic games nintendo.The average age of patients was 16 years and most of the problems is related to traditional consoles.But the surprise of scientists to detect 92 lesions occurred mainly caused by the use of the Wii.
Those affected are children under 10 years who have problems with shoulders, ankles and feet, or who have suffered cuts and bruises.
And some medical journals have published cases such as a broken foot caused by a fall and head injuries caused accidentally by a playmate.

"As with any new activity, people who play with the Wii should not do too much," said a Nintendo spokesman.The safety instructions recommend the game to take some precautions such as leaving enough space between two players to avoid accidents, use a wrist strap or protective silicone to reduce the risk of falls in nintendo wii.The company recommends that you follow the safety instructions, taking breaks between a game and another and avoid too strong or excessive movements.It was unclear the extent of the problem with the Nintendo Wii in other parts of the world although the U.S. research provides a reference on the potential damage that gives some players, especially those who have made the game an addiction .

The Wii and PSP triple its sales in Japan after rebates

Sales of Nintendo's Wii console and Sony's PlayStation Portable tripled in Japan last week, thanks to price cuts and the launch game titles, according to a research firm.
Desiring to encourage demand asleep before the crucial holiday shopping season, Nintendo cut the price of the Wii at 20 percent and Sony cut the price of the PSP by 15 percent last Oct. 1.
Sales also were encouraged by last week's launch of the PSP version of the popular game "Great Tourism" and "Wii Fit Plus", the second installment of the popular home exercise game "Wii Fit".
Sony sold 49,000 units of its PSP in the week ended Sunday, compared with 15,000 the previous week, while Wii sales were around 32,000, compared with the 10,500 machines that were sold last week, said Ascii Media Works.
