The device will compete with cheaper options for so-called streaming video over the Internet, a technology for watching movies or television programs without being previously downloaded. There Roku set-top boxes that use this technology and are offered from $ 60.
The new Apple TV will give users the ability to access high-definition version of newly released DVD movies for sale or rent. Also available are certain television programs, including hits like "The Simpsons" and "Glee."
The new device will only allow people to lease their content, not buy it. For high-definition movies to be offered the day out on DVD, people will pay $ 4.99. Rent episodes of HDTV will be 99 cents.
Moments earlier, Jobs introduced a new iPod Nano, no buttons. Its controls play, pause and music selections are now right on the screen. It will cost $ 149 for the eight-gigabyte version and $ 179 for 16 gigabytes. Like the previous version, the new nano has an FM tuner and can display photos.
